The purpose of an ultrafiltration system is to produce a filtrate (permeate) from the coating material that can be used to rinse the coated workpieces after the KTL bath. This removes excess coating material from the workpieces. The entire system should be designed as a closed liquid circulation loop.

Through the cascade arrangement of the rinse baths, the contaminated filtrate flows back through the rinse stages and into the KTL bath.

The filtrate can also be used for bath control, for example to reduce the bath volume or to remove unwanted ions or acids.

COMPLETE UF SYSTEMS

Process Description:

The electrocoating paint is drawn from the overflow tank of the KTL bath by a centrifugal pump and pumped through the pre-filters into the feed line of the UF system. From there, the paint enters the distribution manifold of the ultrafiltration system. The paint is returned via a collection and distribution line. The pressure in the feed and return lines is indicated by diaphragm pressure gauges.

As described above, the electrocoating paint is separated within the membranes into a concentrate stream and a permeate stream.

The permeate passes through a turbidity monitoring system, if installed, and then flows into the clean permeate tank or rinse-water tank. From there, the filtrate is used to spray-rinse the workpieces. Excess filtrate is returned to the final UF rinse zone and can then be used to clean the workpieces during a subsequent immersion stage.

Serin Industrieanlagen can help you find the optimal solution for your process, improve quality, and save energy and resources. With the help of modern membrane technology, it is possible to improve the quality of your components and minimize rework.
